John "Coach" Cassidy

John "Coach" Cassidy  was a Menomonee Falls resident who was very active in the community. He was lovingly called “Coach” by many. He was a man with a huge passion for bringing basketball and baseball to the youth level. John was a founder, board member, vice president and volunteer coach of the Menomonee Falls Youth Basketball Association and Jr. Indians. He also coached Little League, Falcons, Junior Indians baseball and was active in the MFHS Booster Club and Capitol Improvement Campaign. 

He was named First Team All-Team by the Menomonee Falls Football Program and to the Sussex Hamilton Basketball Program's All Warrior Team. He was a recipient of the Menomonee Falls Friends of Education Award and the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association Award. 

John was diagnosed in October of 2008 with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In January of 2011 John passed away at age 55. His wife Lynn (Menomonee Falls) and three children Kelsey (Milwaukee), Kara (Minneapolis) and Conor (Chicago) continue his legacy. 

John attended Ottawa Township High School and graduated from Lake Forest College (Illinois). He was employed with General Electric for 15 years. He fulfilled his love for teaching by joining long time friend, Andy Cerroni in his fourth grade classroom. John will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, friends and community.
